Dhanbad, Dec 2: East Central Railway Employees Union (ECREU) of Dhanbad Rail Division has demanded cashless treatment facilities for accidental and serious diseases of staff at private super specialty hospitals.

At the Permanent Negotiation Meeting (PNM) of the union and the railway management after Corona pandemic, ECREU leaders said that cashless treatment facilities at private hospitals of Ranchi, Varanasi, Dhanbad and Hazaribagh should be provided for proper healthcare of railway staff and their dependents.

ECREU general secretary Md Jayauddin said that though railway has tied up with some private hospitals of Dhanbad and Durgapur (West Bengal), facility of  health services at super specialty hospitals of Ranchi, Varanasi and Hazaribagh hospital will help in getting timely treatment and without any harassment.
The union expressed its concern about lack of pathological facilities at railway hospitals of division and demanded restoring the system in the interest of sick employees.
ECREU President DK Pandey said that Dhanbad division has enhanced its record in freight loading this financial year in comparison to previous financial year but the management is deducting allowance of the staff that helped in achieving this milestone.
ECREU strongly protested the deduction of night allowance, travel allowance and national holiday allowance. “While employees perform their duty with dedication, holding up these allowances by management is not justified,” said the general secretary. He requested the management to release the allowances immediately.
The union also expressed resentment over poor supply of power in railway colony in Dhanbad, Gomoh, Barkakana, Wyndhamganj, Garhwa Town, Meralgram, Salaibanba, Gurur, Pathardih and Obra Dam of division and asked the management for improving the supply.
On the first day of the two-day meeting, recognized union leaders put up the proposal of demands and divisional railway manager (DRM) and other senior officials will address the issue on the second day (tomorrow).
ECREU Committee Organizing Secretary VD Singh, assistant general secretary Om Prakash and other leaders also addressed the conference.
