Dhanbad, June 14: Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University’s (BBMKU) Mass Communication department is set to land in soup for serving wrong information and hiding facts in an RTI reply over internship to a student in the 2019-21 academic session.

Rajnish Prasad, a PG 4th semester student of the Mass Communication department in 2019-21 sessions, was denied permission for an internship in the name of Covid while at the same time, a relative of a BBMKU authority was recommended for the same.

The matter is not in cognizance of the present vice-chancellor Dr Mukul Narayan Dev as it happened in the regime of Anjani Kumar Srivastava.

BBMKU RTI Public Information Officer (PIO) has in a reply to the RTI question informed that due to Corona pandemic guidelines, no student was sent for an internship during the 2019-21 session by the Mass Communication Department.

But another RTI reply of a central government institution, Central Industrial Mineral Fuel Research (CIMFR) Dhanbad, has informed that the department had sent names for internship in 2019-21 sessions.

The official document of CIMFR says that BBMKU Mass Communication department head Dr MK Pandey had on December 8, 2020, recommended and forwarded the name of a student Nandini Sengupta (roll no.191121006) for 2/3 months’ internship in public relations, publication and human resources in the institution.

Sources said that Nandini Sengupta was a student of the 2nd semester of the Mass Communication department. It was said that she was the niece of a senior officer of BBMKU.

The scam surfaced when Rajnish demanded the information from BBMKU under RTI Act 2005 in December 2021.

BBMKU PIO informed him that information has been demanded from the Mass Communication department for a reply. Later, the Head of the department Dr MK Pandey sent a reply saying that no name was sent for the internship.

On June 6, 2021, Rajnish submitted an application to the department head MK Pandey for permission of internship in Central Coalfield Limited (CCL) Kathara as per the syllabus curriculum. The head of the department allegedly neither rejected nor accepted his application.

On getting no response on the application, the student sought information from BBMKU through RTI over the reason for the rejection of his application. He also sought the list and names of students who were given an internship in the 2019-21 session along with the audio-visual documentary of 2019-21 session students.

BBMKU PIO on January 28, 2022, replied that due to the Corona pandemic, the department had sent no student officially for internship in the 2019-21 session. He also asked Rajnish Prasad to see the documentaries in the office.

This correspondent tried contacting Dr MK Pandey but he was not available for the comment on his recommendation. All RTI papers of the victim student are in possession of lagatar24.com.
