The FCI Sindri, which shut down the plant in December 2002, has over 8,500 different types of quarters in the township in which 1,400 quarters were given to its VSS employees on 11 months lease while unauthorised persons have occupied around 6,000 quarters.
The official sources said that an eviction notice has been issued on the directive of FCIL OSD SS Shekhawat who visited Sindri on August 14. Having seen the encroachment of FCIL land, quarters and unauthorised construction he reportedly took it seriously and asked the local management to get it cleared.
The FCI management has also issued notice to its ex-employees to deposit their outstanding dues amount of lease rent, water charge and other charges within a month. Along with it, an up-to-date lease agreement of 11 months against allotment of the company’s quarter under a temporary lease should be attached.
Official sources of FCI local management said several ex-employees who had taken a quarter on lease have not renewed their agreement for several years. So notice has been served to them either cleared the lease rent or vacate the quarter.
A delegation of FCI VSS Employees Association under president Sewa Singh met OSD SS Shekhawat and handed over crucial information.
“We urged OSD to make a quarter policy of the company, lease out the quarter on regular basis to the widow and dependent of deceased FCI employees and give quarters on lease basis to the residents living in for last 20 years,” said Sewa Singh.
OSD SS Shekhawat gave positive assurance on providing quarters on regular basis to widows and dependents of deceased employees.
