Dhanbad, Oct 14: Police have lodged FIR against BJP’s Baghmara MLA Dhulu Mahto in connection with the shootout for coal turf supremacy in which one person named Mukesh Turi was injured.

The police arrested three persons on the spot on Wednesday and sent them to jail today.

On the complaint of the victim Mukesh Turi’s maternal uncle Rameshwer Turi, the Kendudih police station has lodged an FIR under IPC Section 147, 148,149, 341, 323, 307,120B, 25/26, 27/35 against 12 named persons including Dhulu Mahto and 10 unidentified persons.

The FIR has been lodged in wake of Wednesday’s bloody clash, allegedly between the supporters of Congress state working president Jaleshwar Mahto and Baghmara BJP MLA Dhulu Mahto near Gopal Gararia Basti under Kenduadih police station.

As per information, the alleged henchmen of Dhulu Mahto shot Jaleswer Mahto’s supporter Mukesh Turi who got critically injured and is admitted to a Ranchi hospital.

In February,  a hard coke industrialist of Bokaro filed an FIR against Dhulu Mahto in Rajganj police station of Dhanbad for demanding Rs 10 lakh as extortion for setting a up factory in Rajganj. An FIR was lodged after Dhulu Mahto’s supporters allegedly demolished the boundary wall of the factory with a JCB at night.

According to senior lawyer and social activist Vijay Jha (also from Baghmara), at least 48 criminal cases are lodged against MLA Dhulu Mahto and he has been convicted by the court in 10 to 12 cases.

However, Dhulu Mahto alleged that on the directive of the Jharkhand government and Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the police are framing false cases against BJP workers.

“The administration has failed to discharge its duty and is rather working as Lathait (henchman) of the state government. A few months ago, the police lodged FIR against me. But I am not a person to succumb and my party would fight against it,” the MLA said.
