Dhanbad: Five martial arts players selected for national championship

Dhanbad, Feb 15: Five martial arts players including a girl from Dhanbad district have been selected to represent Jharkhand in the three-day All India Senior Karate Championship to be held at Dehradun (Uttrakhand) from February 17 to 19.

Dhanbad District Karate Association general secretary Ranjit Kesri said that selected players from Dhanbad include Julie Kumari, Sandip Kumar Paswan, Akshay Kant, Tanmaya Khan and Anish Yadav.

“These martial arts players of Dhanbad have been selected on the basis of their performance in Jharkhand State Karate Championship cum selection trial held at Ramgarh district. All five players had won gold medal in different age groups of Kumte event of the championship”, added Kesri.

Notably, the three-day national championship is being organised by Karate Organization of India and the Sports Karate Association of Jharkhand has selected the team.
