Dhanbad, May 10: A girl sitting on fast unto death along with family members for last seven days near collectorate against torture of BJP Baghmara MLA Dhulu Mahto cut her vein when the health department forcibly carried them away to the hospital after the deterioration of their health condition.
The doctors of Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) said that the condition of the girl and her family members was out of danger.
Ashok Mahto, the resident of Chitahi in Baghmara block had been fast unto death dharna along with his wife, daughter and son at Randhir Verma Chowk near collectorate in Dhanbad since May 4 seeking reprieve from the torture of BJP MLA Dhulu Mahto.
Today in the afternoon at around 2.30 pm, the health department doctor, who was monitoring their health for the last seven days, declared their condition critical, especially of Kunti Devi, the wife of Ashok Mahto. Civil surgeon Dr Shyam Kishore Kant ordered to admit them to a medical college hospital immediately.
The victim family refused to go saying that they would prefer to die from fast unto death rather than face the torture of MLA till the district administration does not protect them from Dhulu Mahto. However, when doctors and nurses carried them to the medical college hospital forcibly, on the way the girl Suniti (18 years) cut her vein.
The victim family sat on fast unto death on May 4 alleging that Baghmara MLA Dhulu Mahto is trying to capture her land adjacent to Ram RajTemple in Chitahi. When they refused to give, the MLA first put up a water tanker in front of his shop which is the main resource of livelihood and later dumped construction material there.
Victim Ashok Mahto said he filed an FIR in Barora police station when Dhulu Mahto along with supporters beat him up last year. Even district administration and chief minister were given written information but no action has been taken.
BJP MLA, who is facing around 43 different cases, two days ago alleged that Ashok Mahto has captured the land of others.
