Dhanbad, Feb 17: The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has taken cognizance of the death of a 14-year-old girl student and has sought a report from the police in three days.

The CWC chairperson Uttam Mukherjee after visiting the spot in the apartment said that situation looks suspicious in which the girl fell or was allegedly pushed from the rooftop.

“I talked with deputy superintendent of police Amar Pandey and Barwadda police station officer-in-charge Bikram Singh over the incident and asked them to submit a report,” he said.

CWC had also directed senior police officers to conduct post-mortems under the supervision of the medical board. The post-mortem was conducted in presence of a magistrate at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital.

Sandhvi Thakur, a class VI  student of a convent school fell to death from the 7th floor of the Trinity Garden Apartment in the Bhelatand area under Barwadda police station on Wednesday evening.

The mother of the girl alleged that a boy in the apartment along with his three other friends pushed her to death from the rooftop. On basis of the FIR, police took all four accused in custody and interrogated them.

The victim’s family after the incident also lodged a complaint to Child Welfare Committee for conducting a probe.
