Dhanbad, Jan 20: The health department has decided to take service of private diagnostic centres for screening expecting mothers as per the guidelines of the government of India.

Notably, Civil surgeon (CS) Dhanbad Dr Alok Viswakarma has in this regard invited operators of private diagnostic centres for MoU to conduct ultrasonography of expecting mothers at government health centres of the district.

“As per the guidelines of the Government of India, ultrasonography during pregnancy of expecting mother is mandatory once in the 18th and 19th week of pregnancy for taking a status report of pregnancy and congenital anomaly of the infant.  Since ultrasound facilities are not functional at government hospitals/ health centres due to a shortage of doctors or other technical reasons, the health department has decided to take service of private centres for catering for the requirement,” he said.

For the time being, the health department would provide ultrasonography facilities to the expecting mother through the service of private diagnostic centres operators at nine hospitals including Sadar hospital, primary health centre (PHC)  Kenduadih,  Primary Health Centre  Govindpur, Primary Health Centre Nirsa, Primary  Health Centre Tundi, Primary Health Centre Baliapur, Primary Health Centre Jharia Chasnala, Primary Health Centre  Baghmara and Primary Health Centre  Topchachi.

“For ensuring ultrasonography to expecting mothers at these centres, the health department would sign MoU with private centres,” said civil surgeon Dr Vishwakarma.

Today, he invited interested private diagnostic centres for MoU to conduct sonography at the rate of Rs 400 each.
