Dhanbad, Jan 16: Kite flying and Rangoli competitions organised by IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad students to mark Makar Sankranti festival, stole the show on the campus.
IIT ISM deputy director Prof Dhiraj Kumar inaugurated the competition and appreciated the organisers for organising such an attractive meet.
Students Gymkhana Club general secretary Jai Anand and event coordinator Shivanand said that the kite flying competition was organised in two rounds of 20 participants each and the three best teams of each group were given a cash prize of Rs 6,000 Each.
In the first round, teams of Bifire, Patang Pilots and Sky High Flyers got first, second and third positions while in the second round competition, the team of The Silent Boys, The Royal Mafia and Kala Katta emerged first, second and third respectively.
“There was a massive rush for entry in kite flying competition but In keeping ground space in mind only 40 teams were allowed to participate. On basis of the ‘First Come, First Got’ teams’ entry was accepted,” said Shivanand, the coordinator of the event.
The kites of different participants on which different slogans and headings were scribed, were the centre of the attraction for the students, professors and outsiders spectators.
Gymkhana Club office bearers said on the occasion Rangoli was also organized to mark the festival in which techies participate in large numbers,
