Dhanbad, Feb 14: Ex-BJP MLA Sanjiv Singh today got his statement recorded in court and denied charges of violation election model code of conduct.
The former BJP MLA Sanjiv Singh is now in Dhanbad jail.
Marxist Coordination Committee (MCC) leader Rustam Ansari today appeared in the court of First Class Judicial Magistrate Santoshni Murmu in a nine-year-old case of violation of the election model code of conduct and said that they were implicated in a false case under a political conspiracy.
On the directive of the Election Commission of India (ECI) case for violation of the election code of conduct was filed in Jorapokhar police station of the district against the then BJP candidate Jharia constituency Sanjiv Singh, the then Congress Party candidate Neeraj Singh and MCC candidate Rustam Ansari during 2014 assembly election.
Today MCC candidate Rustam Ansari appeared in court physically while Sanjiv Singh produced through video conferencing from Dhanbad jail. After the statement of Sanjiv Singh and Rustam Ansari, the court ordered the defence lawyers to argue. Sanjiv Singh has been in Dhanbad jail since 2017 in connection with his cousin Neeraj Singh’s murder case.
The election nodal officer Churka Murmu during patrolling in the Jharia constituency in the 2014 assembly election seized flags of all trio parties from public places and filed FIR at Jorapokhar police station.
IO Alomani Kerketta filed a charge sheet in court against all three candidates on June 30, 2015.
The case was closed against Cong candidate Neeraj Singh after his murder in 2017.
