Dhanbad, Sept 16: Sanjiv Singh, a two-time former Jharia BJP MLA who is currently imprisoned, received treatment for a toothache today at a private dental office per court order from the Dhanbad MP MLA court.
The jail administration amid tight security took him to the Bank More Gurudwara-based private dental clinic of Dr Saurav Parv in the morning. Dr Parv said that Sanjiv Singh’s pain had aggravated due to a gum infection.
Ex-MLA Sanjiv Singh has been lodged in Dhanbad jail since April 2017 in connection with the former deputy mayor and his cousin Neeraj Singh’s murder case. Both the brothers had contested against each other in the 2014 assembly election from Jharia. Neeraj Singh contested as an independent candidate from the Dhanbad Sadar seat in 2009. In 2014, he entered the fray from the Jharia constituency as a Congress candidate but lost.
Sanjiv Singh had been suffering from toothache for the last month in jail. When his pain did not cure by a doctor of jail hospital treatment, he sought permission from the MP MLA court for treatment in a private clinic in the coal city.
The MP MLA court had given the order to the jail administration last month for providing facilities but due to security point of view, his treatment was held up. The court later directed the senior superintendent of police (SSP) for ensuring his treatment at the private dental clinic.
Finally, today amid tight security, Sanjiv Singh was taken to Dr Saurav Parv’s clinic. His wife Ragini Singh, who contested from Jharia assembly seat on a BJP ticket in the 2019 election also reached the clinic. She alleged that the former MLA had been suffering from pain for a long time but the administration ignored the treatment from a specialist in the name of security.
