Dhanbad, Jan 6: Dhanbad lawyers today abstained from judicial works today on a call of the State Bar Council in protest against the court fee hike by the state government.
Dhanbad Bar Association president Amrendra Kumar Saha said on the directive of Jharkhand State Bar Council, all lawyers of Dhanbad today kept away themselves from all types of judicial works.
“A memorandum has also been sent to the chief minister for withdrawing the hiked court fee in the interest of the people of the state. Lawyers are in favour of providing easy and cheap justice to people and this can be possible only with lower court fees. So, we have urged the chief minister to withdraw hiked court fee,” said president Amrendra Kumar Sahay and general secretary Jitendra Kumar.
Dhanbad Bar Association has also demanded increasing numbers of public prosecutors should be appointed from among lawyers, insurance coverage of lawyers and a constitution of a Lawyers’ welfare fund for their help.
