Dhanbad, Jan 25: The industry leaders of the country will congregate at IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) on February 4 to attend the annual R&D Fair of the institution.
Notably, giving this information, Prof Rajni Singh, dean of media and branding, at IIT ISM told that in the fair cutting edge technologies, innovative products and research facilities of the institute will be displayed, which is expected to strengthen industry-institute ties.
“The doyens of the industry during the Fair will also take stock of the research & development infrastructure and facilities of the IIT ISM,” Singh said.
She added that the annual R&D fair is being organised for the first time in the institution by the dean (R&D) in association with TexMin, the technology hub of IIT ISM.
Dean (R &D) Prof Sagar Pal said that the ‘R&D Fair’ will provide an opportunity to showcase their major products, technologies, research facilities and capabilities for possible technology commercialization, industry-academia collaboration, industry-sponsored R&D projects & consultancies.

“We are also expecting colossal footfall during the Fair as it is being organised for industry-institute interaction (III), which will improve our perception,” said Prof Pal and added that stalls will be provided to each department to showcase their products and technologies.
Prof Ezaz Ahmad, coordinator of Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy (SRIC), said that each department will be allowed to demonstrate one or two demonstrable prototypes/models/products besides, two posters showcasing their department expertise and research areas or posters of two best technologies of the department.
He further informed that departments will also be allowed to put up one poster showcasing their research facilities.
“The fair will help to strengthen the institutes’ industry collaboration. TexMin will also showcase their products and services during the fair,” said Prof Ahmad.
Last year, three start-ups Deep Matrix Private Limited, Encross Private Limited and Futurotech solutions were developed under the incubation initiative of TexMin Foundation.
Ahmad said the idea behind organising the R&D fair is to ‘Make in India’ concept and create a platform to facilitate the commercialisation of Industrial Technologies.
