Dhanbad, Sept 2: A team of doctors under a magistrate would conduct regular inspections of Ultrasound clinics in  Dhanbad to ensure strict implementation of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC-PNDT) Act.

Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sandip Singh while chairing the meeting on PC-PNDT directed to set up three teams (comprising two doctors and a magistrate in one team) for monitoring activities of district-based ultrasound clinics so that no violation of the Act could be done.

As per the district health department’s official record, a total of 71 ultrasound centres function in Dhanbad and all of them properly follow the health department’s regulations. Till date, only one team was monitoring these ultrasounds centres but at the meeting, the DC ordered to set up three teams for regular inspection across the district.

At the meeting, the DC also ordered for the opening of the Sarvmangla Nursing Home which was sealed on February 21, 2022, after the health department team found large-scale irregularities in the diagnostic machine. An FIR was also lodged against the operator of the ultrasound clinic.

Civil surgeon (CS) Dr Alok Vishwakarma suggested for inspection of IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) centres to confirm if PC-PNDT Act is being violated there.

Executive Magistrate Kumar Bandhu Kachhap, Dr Raj Kumar Singh, Dr Pranay Purbey Dr Manish  Kumar, Dr Vikash Rana and Dr Apurb Kumar also put up their suggestions at this meeting for strict monitoring of ultrasound centres.
