Dhanbad , July 1: Tension prevails in Jharia after members of two community pelted stones at each other over bathing issue in Baniyahir locality under Jharia police station, around 8 km away from district headquarters on Friday.
An old lady was injured during the clash which triggered after the Friday prayer.
Sindri SDPO Abhishek Kumar Singh said that the situation was under control.
“Heavy police force has been deployed in the area.”No one has been arrested in this connection as it was minor incident,” said SDPO.
The eye witness said that the dispute started between two persons over bathing in pond at around 1.30 pm. Soon, members of both the communities engaged in pelting stones on each other.
Since in wake of Friday prayer, Jharia police were in alert mode, officer in-charge Pankaj Kumar Jha and circle officer (CO) Parmeshwar Kuswaha reached the spot immediately and controlled the situation by consoling both the communities.
SDPO Abhishek Kumar said that person responsible for this would be punished after identification.
Former counsellor Shailendra Singh alleged that members of a particular community with calculated conspiracy attack houses of Hindu after Friday prayer.
“They also assembled today in the name of prayer and attacked houses, broke doors on simple matter,” he alleged. He claimed that they beat up women and children in which one old lady got injured.
