Dhanbad, Nov 27: The groundbreaking ceremony of Dhanbad Municipal Corporation’s (DMC) ambitious project ‘Kifayti Awas Yojna,’ which is meant for urban poor families, snowballed into controversy after Sadar MLA Raj Sinha was first invited and later the invitation was withdrawn.
This is the first time when an invitation card has been withdrawn from a MLA after inviting him for the programme. It all happened with BJP Dhanbad sadar MLA Raj Sinha.
DMC had invited MLA Raj Sinha for attending the ceremony of ‘Kifayati Awas Yojna’ on Thursday. But on Friday morning before the programme, the DMC withdrew the invitation card from him without giving any reason.
Notably, the DMC is constructing 320 flats for urban poor families in Baramuri area of the coal city. The inauguration ceremony of the project was organized on Friday.
Taking the invitation withdrawal seriously, Sadar MLA Raj Sinha lashed out at DMC authorities and said why did they invited him for the programme when they had no plan to call people’s representative for the same.
“I will raise the matter in winter session of state assembly on December 16 as DMC authorities have insulted me. An employee of DMC came and took back the card for making some correction. It is a serious matter as I am being ignored in my own constituency,” said Raj Sinha.
However, DMC authorities expressed surprise over the incident. Town commissioner Satyendra Kumar told media persons that he had no information about the invitation given to the MLA.
“The ceremony of the project was organized by Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Company Limited (JUIDCO) and private construction company, not by DMC. They had to send the invitation to the MLA. However, DMC will conduct a probe on how was the invitation issued from DMC,” said Satyendra Kumar.
Notably, senior officials of the urban development department, Dhanbad Municipal Corporation and district administration were present at the inaugural ceremony of the project.
Under this project, urban poor families of the coal city will be given flats at the rate of Rs 3.64 lakhs.
