Dhanbad, Jan 25: Newly admitted eight students from six foreign countries were accorded a warm welcome at IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) and got aware of the guidelines of the institution on Wednesday.
Prof Rajni Singh, dean of media and branding of the institution, said that International Relations and Alumni Affairs (IRAA) of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad organised a welcome meet in the International Hostel of the institute for students of six countries, including Tanzania, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, Sudan and Iraq who have been admitted in various academic programmes of IIT (ISM) recently.
Addressing the students at the induction programme, Prof RM Bhattacharjee, Dean, of International Relations and Alumni Affairs assured all the facilities to foreign students on the campus as per the laid guidelines and wished them a great stay on the campus.
He assures all necessary facilities as per the laid guidelines and urges them to emerge as Brand Ambassadors of the institute by excelling in all walks of life, including academics.
The eight foreign students are Iddi Ramadhani Bulushi of Tanzania; Tamal Nag Akash and Nijhum Das Chowa from Bangladesh; Musitefa Adem Yimen from Ethiopia; Ravi Kumar Mishra of Nepal; Geleta Warkisa Deressa of Ethiopia; Zooelnon Abdel Wahed of Sudan and Ahmed Qasim Mohammad from Iraq,
On the occasion, they interacted with the members of the International Relations wing of the Student Alumni International Relations Cell (SAIRC) of IIT (ISM).
They also shared various details about their academic and family background during the meet and learnt about the nitty gritty of the facilities in the hostel, library, and mess and also about the placement prospects.
Prof Biswajit Chowdhury, Associate Dean, International Relations said that one needs to be focused and sincere towards his/her studies to make the best of the available opportunities.”
Prof Rajeev Upadhyay, Associate Dean of Alumni Affairs who was also present during the event exhorted the foreign student to enjoy their stay in the institute and added International students of previous batches of the institute who have now become their brand ambassadors as well.
Prof. Gauri Shankar, chairperson of IRC & Chief Warden, of International Hostel while welcoming the international students said that all must make sure that they are following the laid guidelines of the institute.
