Dhanbad , June 3: The National Students Union of India (NSUI), the students wing of Congress Party, took out a candle march in protest against brutal murder of Sakshi in New Delhi and demanded death sentence for the murderer.
Hundreds of NSUI activists under leadership of district unit president Gopal Krishna Choudhary on Friday evening took out candle march from the party office to Randhir Verma Chowk near the collectorate chanting slogans against murder of Sakshi and demanding death penalty to person who does wrong with a daughter of the country.
Addressing the agitated activists, NSUI district president Gopal Krishan Choudhary said that students are aghast over the murder of Sakshi. “ The bizarre incident shows a girl in India is still not safe. Rattled by the incident, the NSUI took out a candle march in protest and has resolved to continue agitation until the culprit is given death penalty,” he said.
In the candle march besides district general secretary Sani Singh, PK Roy Memorial College NSUI president Raj Ranjan Singh, Sahil Khan, Akash Pramanik, Sinku Khan, Danish Raja, Katras College Katras president Nitish Saini SSLNT Women’s College president Nikki Kumari, Sunder Kumar, Subham Jha, Aakib Afroj, Kunal Prasad, Ritik Roshan, Rohit Kumar Mandal, Sachin Roy, Rishikesh Narayan of different colleges were leading the protest.
The NSUI also urged the judiciary to show example with awarding death penalty to the murder accused so that a message should go in society that assaulter of a daughter would be punished hard.
“The NSUI demands from the state government to make martial arts mandatory in colleges so that girls could learn self defense and a camp should be organized in educational institutions on priority basis for encouraging their confidence,” said Gopal Krishna Choudhary.
