Dhanbad, Feb 10: The Dhanbad POCSO court today awarded a 20-year rigorous jail term to a rape-accused maternal uncle.

The court of special judge Prabhakar Singh, while delivering the judgement, announced 20 years jail term and a fine of Rs 5,000 to accuse Jitendra Ram of raping his own 15-year-old niece in a three-year-old case.

Advocate Vikash Bhubania and public prosecutor (PP) Anil Kumar Singh appeared for the victim girl in the court.

The PP said that FIR was lodged at the Jharia police station on January 17, 2021. As per the FIR, the maternal uncle Jitendra Ram, taking an advantage of her aloneness in the house, raped her on August 13, 2020, and threatened to kill her brother if she informed her parents.

Fearing action she did not inform her mother and father about the incident when they returned in the evening.

After that, Jitendra continued her sexual exploitation. Finally, the victim girl informed her parents about the incident and an FIR was lodged. The police filed a charge sheet in court against the accused on November 23, 2021.
