Dhanbad police arrest three in railway contractor murder case

Dhanbad, April 13:  Dhanbad police have arrested three persons from different locations in the railway contractor Babloo Singh murder case within 11 days of the incident. Babloo was gunned down at Bhaga railway siding under Jorapokhar police station on April 2.

Dhanbad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjiv Kumar told media persons that the arrested accused were identified as Manoj Kumar, Rajiv Kumar Rajak and Ram Vilas Chouhan.  “Police are searching for the two other accused involved in the murder case,” he said.

The SSP said Manoj Kumar was arrested at Delhi – Uttar Pradesh border in Noida on April 10 while police nabbed Ram Vilas Chouhan from Azamgarh of Uttar Pradesh and Rajiv Kumar Rajak from Dumri of Giridih district respectively.

“Police recovered one 9mm loaded pistol, one pistol and one loaded country-made pistol, three mobile phones and cash amount of Rs 20,700 from their possession,” he said.

Babloo Singh, a railway contractor of Adra Rail Division of South Eastern Railway Zone, was gunned down on April 2 evening at Bhaga railway siding of Dhanbad district while getting maintenance work of track in the evening, two bike-borne killers shot him there. The SSP said the arrested accused admitted to being present on the spot at the time of the crime.

On the written complaint of Prabhu Singh (brother-in-law of Babloo Singh), an FIR was lodged in the Jorapokhar police station of Dhanbad district on April 3.

The SSP said that since Babloo Singh refused to be a member of the contractor syndicate in the Adra rail division he was killed by Manoj Singh and his group. Manoj Singh is said to be the mediator of railway contractors and he had threatened Babloo Singh with dire consequences if he (Babloo Singh) fails to fall in line.
