Dhanbad, Sept 6: The Dhanbad police on Tuesday morning gunned down one dacoit in an encounter and reportedly cordoned off his four accomplices in Muthoot Finance office in posh Bank More market area under Bank More police station.
The police officers engaged in the operation said that at around 10:30 am, five armed dacoits entered the Muthoot Finance office with the plan to rob. However, Bank More police under officer in-charge PK Singh reached the spot in no time and cordoned off the office.
Having seen the police, the dacoits opened fired. However, the police also retaliated and during the cross fire, one of the robbers was reportedly killed. However, police officers on the spot refused to confirm. As per the last report, police had cordoned off the Muthoot Finance from all sides.
Notably, senior police officers including senior superintendent of police reached the spot to monitor the operation.
Moreover, the action is seen as a major achievement for Dhanbad police as three days ago, armed criminals had robbed jewellery worth over Rs 1 crore from Gunjan jewellery showroon under Dhansar police station.
