Dhanbad, Sept 6: The Dhanbad Police have recovered an automatic weapon, a bag full of tools and two bikes with fake registration numbers from the two robbers who were arrested today from Muthoot Finance office. He claimed two other criminals who managed to escape would be arrested soon.
SSP said the criminals had been living in a rented house in Dhansar area of the city and conducted a reccy of jewellery shops in the district.
The Dhanbad police shot dead one robber in encounter and arrested two other during dacoity in Muthoot Finance office in posh Bank More market under Bank More police station on Tuesday morning.
The senior superintendent of police (SSP) Sanjiv Kumar told media persons that five dacoits had entered the Muthoot finance office for robbery in which one was killed in encounter while police nabbed two criminals. Two other criminals managed to escape from the spot.
SSP said five criminals entered the Mutthoot finance office at around 10.30 am as customer and pointed out gun on branch manager for looting. Muthoot Finance officer is merely 250 to 300 metres away from BankMore Police station.
“On getting the information, officer in-charge PK Singh along with two constables reached the spot running. Having seen police robbers fired on police. Police also retaliated for self defence in which one dacoit was killed. Constables overpowered two other”, said Sanjiv kumar. SSP said police fired four rounds while criminals fired around 10 rounds of bullets. Empty cartridges were recovered.
SSP said due to quick action of police robbers failed to loot in Muthoot Finance. The names of arrested criminals do not match what they disclosed in interrogation and the Aadhar cards recovered from their possession.
One criminal said his name Nirmal Singh Power of Madhya Pradesh while in Aadhar card his name was found Ashif of Samastipur . Similarly another arrested person disclosed his name Gunjan Kumar of Ranchi’s Lalgunj but in Aadhar card his name is Raghav of Lakhisarai ( Bihar). The arrested criminals refused having identification of deceased robber.
