Dhanbad, Jan 13: Dhanbad Public School (DPS) secured third position in the team event while its two students bagged a bronze medal in the boy’s and girl’s individual events at the CBSE National Yoga Championships held in Mount Abu School, New Delhi.
Notably, a total of 128 CBSE schools from across the country participated in a three-day mega-annual competition held from January 9 to January 11. The team returned to Dhanbad on Thursday.
Moreover, a five-member team of DPS Dhanbad consisting of Pratik Kumar, Yuvraj, Piyush Agrawal, Anubhav Sharma and Ayush Sharma had put in an excellent performance but missed gold and silver medals. However, they secured the third position in the boys under-19 team championship.
In the girl`s under-19 individual event, Ankita Sharma and Dipika Kumari of Dhanbad Public School has stolen the show with their excellent performance but had to settle for a bronze medal.
The Sports teacher Shashikant Pandey said it was the third consecutive time that the Dhanbad team had performed outstanding Yoga at the All India CBSE National Championships. The school team had similar results in 2019 and 2022. Due to Covid, the CBSE National Yoga Championship was not organised in 2020 and 2021.

DPS selection for the National Championship was made from the East Zone based on their performance. Meanwhile, Principal Sharda Mahajan, Governing body President Shambhunath Agrawal, Secretary Anil Agrawal and others congratulated all the players and wished them a bright future.
