Dhanbad rail division staff observe hunger strike for old pension scheme

Dhanbad, Oct 12: Dhanbad railway divisional employees today staged a day-long hunger strike for the implementation of the Old Pension Scheme and announced to intensify the agitation if their demands are not accepted by the central government.

As per the announced programme, hundreds of railway employees under the banner of East Central Railway Karmchari Union today held a massive demonstration in the morning in front of the Dhanbad railway station in support of their demands and sat on hunger strike.

Pintoo Nandan, treasurer of East Central Railway Karmchari Union branch-1 who led the hunger strike, said that  It was a nationwide agitation against the delay in the implementation of long-pending demands of employees including the old pension scheme.

“Besides the implementation of the old pension scheme, other important demands of ECRKU are an immediate ban on privatization of railway, arrear payment of dearness allowance and price rise increased between January 2020 to June 2021”, he said.

The union leaders on the occasion announced that agitation would be intensified if the central government does not wake up from this one-day hunger strike of employees.

Subhash Dey, BK Dubey, KK Singh, AK Daa, TK Sahu, NK Khawas, R K Prasad, Parmeswar  Kumar, Prashant Bannerjee, Meena Kundu, JK Sab were prominent divisional employees leaders who joined in fast and addressed the agitators.
