Dhanbad, April 20: The district health department has sent eight samples for the test at Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) Ranchi after they were found positive in Rapid Antigen Test.

Since the RT-PCR test in the microbiology department of Shahid  Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital ( SNMMCH) is defunct due to lack of proper chemicals, the state health department has directed Dhanbad and Giridih districts to get samples tested at RIMS Ranchi and Mahatma Gandhi Medical Memorial College  Hospital (MGMMCH) Jamshedpur.

Dhanbad Civil Surgeon (CS) Dr Alok Viswakarma said that all the 8 cases came out positive in  Rapid Antigen Test. The health department does not rely  100% on its report. “ So, for confirming  100% we have sent the samples to Ranchi,” he said.

Among eight patients two are students of the ANM training centre and belong to Jamtara and Sahebganj districts.

Dr Vishwakarma said the health department has intensified the testing of people at entry points of the railway stations and bus stands. “There is stock of  6000 RAT kits. We have also given 500 kits to the medical college hospital for conducting a test of the suspected case,” he said.

Dhanbad has already prepared for combating Covid infection. Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC)  Shashi Prakash Singh in this regard assessed the arrangement at SNMMCH on April 10 and expressed satisfaction.

The DDC said the administration has 130 oxygen-supported beds, 50 ventilation-supported beds and 300 other isolated beds for patients. Besides it, after holding a meeting with the SNMMCH  medicine department HoD and other faculty members, the DDC has also prepared a roaster of doctors and nursing staff for the Covid ward.
