Dhanbad, Sept 10: The Governing Body (GB) of Bharat Sevak Samaj (BSS) Women’s College has called a meeting on Monday, September 12, to sort out the ongoing row over the appointment of officiating principal that has plagued the academic activities of the campus for the last one month.

A group of teachers has raised the banner of revolt against the appointment of Dr Subodh Kumar as officiating principal by GB secretary Pushpa Kumari claiming that he is junior to 20 faculty members of the institution.

BSS Women’s College is an affiliated institution of Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU).

The GB secretary has appointed Dr Subodh Kumar as an officiating principal in place of regular principal Dr  Karuna who has gone on a long leave. Sources said that GB secretary Pushpa Kumari has appointed Dr Subodh Kumar without taking the consent of president PN Singh (Dhanbad MP).

Since academic activities of the college have been badly affected due to the seniority row, a delegation of senior teachers comprising Dr GN Mishra, Dr BK Thakur, Dr RK Sharma, Dr Abha Virendra Ankichan and Dr Dilip Sinha met the BBMKU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Sukhdeo Bhoi and urged his immediate interference in the college to sort out the crisis.

The VC taking the matter seriously also called GB secretary Pushpa Kumari and took a stand against the Governing Body over making the alleged junior teacher of the college the officiating principal over seniors and directed her to resolve the crisis in the interest of the institution.

Sources said GB secretary Pushpa kumara admitted to having appointed Dr Subodh Kumar as officiating principal alleging that the appointment of 20 teachers of the college, who claim to be senior to Dr Subodh Kumar, is technically wrong.

University officials said that the VC has directed Pushpa Kumari to call a GB meeting and resolve the issue.

As per teachers’ claim, former principal Dr Usha Sharma of the 1983 batch is the senior most teacher in the college followed by Dr Veena Dayal, Dr Mritunjay Singh, Dr RK Sharma and Dr Sushma Mishra.

Meanwhile, officiating principal Dr Subodh Kumar did not receive lagatar24.com‘s call to give his stand on the seniority row.
