Dhanbad: S Pratap Rao, Anita Das become BBMKU cross country race champions

Dhanbad, Nov 11: S Pratap Rao of the postgraduate (PG) department and Anita Das of BSK College Maithon were declared Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal Univesity (BBMKU) boys and girls student cross country race champions which was held at Sindri College, Sindri today.

Prof Anil Ashutosh, a senior faculty member of Sindri College, said a 12.5 km cross-country race was organized for boy students and a 5 km distance for girl students.

S Pratap Rao completed the 12.5 km race in a record time of 35.22 minutes. Uday Kumar Yadav emerged as the runner up and he covered the distance in 36.5 minutes. Ramesh Kumar (37.44 minutes), and Mukesh Kumar (38.10 minutes) of the PG departments got 3rd and 4th place respectively.

Arun Kumar (38.17 minutes) of BBM College Baliapur and Rohan Kumar Ram (38.24 minutes) of BDA College got 5th and 6th positions respectively.

In the girls’ category, Anita Das of BSK College Maithon won the championship in 19.30 minutes. Anita is a member of the Jharkhand athletics team.

Nisha Kumari (20.46 minutes) of PK Roy Memorial College Dhanbad bagged the 2nd position leaving Kumari Roma (21.49 minutes) of BSS Women’s College Dhanbad in the 3rd spot.

Girls team receives trophy

Pramila Kumari (22.23 minutes) of host Sindri College Sindri got 4th place. Kalawati Hembrom (22.38 minutes)  of RS More College Govindpur and Baby Kumari (22.40 minutes) of SSLNT Women’s College Dhanbad got the 5th and 6th positions respectively.

Prof Anil Ashutosh said that based on points, BSK College Maithon was declared the overall champion and PK Roy Memorial College was the 2nd runner-up in the girls’ section of the championship.

In the boys’ section, the PG department was declared the overall champion and runners-up.  Pratap Rao and Uday Kumar Yadav received the trophy.

A senior officer of FCIL, DD Adhikari, was the chief guest at the inauguration and closing ceremony. On the occasion, BBMKU secretary of sports council Dr A S Beck, and university selectors Dr Mans Acharya and Dr Surendra Muru were also present.

Dr Nakul Prasad of Sindri College presided over the function while senior professor Anil Ashutosh conducted the events. Sports organiser of the college Dr Manoj Tiwary proposed the vote of thanks after the championship.
