Dhanbad, Jan 23: Dr Sanjiv Kumar, the first deputy superintendent of Dhanbad Sadar hospital, appointed on the order of the Governor’s Office, took charge on Monday.
Dr Kumar, after assuming office, told the media that he would focus on attending and attracting 100 per cent referral cases to the community health centre (CHC), and primary health centres to provide better treatment and reduce the load of medical college hospitals.
“For time being I would concentrate on providing special treatment to patients in five departments orthopaedics, gynaecology, surgery, paediatrics and medicine. The hospital has services of a limited number of specialist doctors Dr Mukesh in orthopaedics.
Dr Dheeraj, Dr Jitendra Chourasia (ENT), Dr Gular and Dr Rohit in surgery, and Dr Rajkumar Singh and Dr Rakesh Kumar in anaesthesia. But increasing numbers of specialist doctors services in the hospital would be more effective,” he said.

Dr Sanjiv Kumar said his main aim is to attract all classes of patients who prefer private nursing homes over government hospitals by providing a neat and clean system at par with corporate hospitals.
“Will have a new system in Sadar hospital within a month,” he said.
Dr Kumar had taken additional charge for a month in November on the directive of civil surgeon Dr Alok Viswakarma and had set a record of conducting 105 institutional delivery. Generally, 35 to 40 institutional deliveries were recorded in a month.
Sources in the health department said that Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) health Arun Kumar Singh had e inspected Dhanbad Sadar hospital on September 29, 2022, and expressed dissatisfaction over the Sadar hospital service system.
Reportedly, in his report, the Governor took cognizance and issued an order for appointing Dr Sanjiv Kumar, the reproductive child healthcare (RCH) officer as deputy superintendent of Dhanbad Sadar hospital.
Dhanbad Sadar hospital was merged with the then Patliputra Medical College Hospital (PMCH) in 1982 to save from the de-recognition of the Medical Council of India (MCI).
However, on the initiative of MLA Raj Sinha and the directive of the High Court, Sadar hospital was revived in 2018. In wake of Corona pandemic, the then deputy commissioner (DC) Umashankar Singh 2021 deployed Dr Rajkumar Singh as the nodal officer of Sadar hospital.
