Dhanbad: Sindri College organises blood donation awareness camp

Dhanbad, Jan 11: Sindri College on Wednesday organised a blood donation awareness campaign to make students and youth aware of the importance of blood donation and who is fit and unfit for donating blood.

Dr Nakul Prasad, principal of the college while inaugurating the campaign shed light on the importance of donating blood and encouraged the students to do it in the interest of himself and society.  

“Worth of our life would be proved only when it becomes useful to others. Donation of blood is the best way of proving the worth of life,” he said.

The awareness campaign, the first of its kind witnessed in Sindri township, was organised by Sindri College and Lions Club on the college campus.

Conducting the programme, Prof Anil Ashutosh from the department of physics briefed the students about who is fit and who is not fit for donating blood. He said below 18 years of age, people with low haemoglobin levels and anaemia are not entitled and should not appear for donating blood.

“Students were also instructed how to behave after donating blood. The donor should not stand immediately after donation and rest on bed minimum of five minutes for full recovery,” he said.     

Prof Ashutosh while motivating the students to blood donation said that blood forms and destroys daily in the body.  Red blood spontaneously destroys the body after 120 days whether you donate it or not.

Earlier, the chief guest of the programme Somnath Purti of Lions Club pointed out the importance of blood donation and said that it is beneficial for individuals and saves the lives of others.

The professor in charge of the college Dr Sunita Jaiswal presided over the function and delivered a keynote on the importance of blood donation to students and youth. 

Principal Dr Nakul Prasad said that the college, in collaboration with Sindri Life Club, has organised Mega Blood Camp’ under the supervision of  Asian Jalan Hospital Dhanbad. Tomorrow (Thursday) on campus.
