Dhanbad, Feb 13: Smoke from a minor short circuit in Ozone Galleria Mall, known as Big Bazar in the Saraidhela area created a massive panic among people on Monday morning.

The smoke was spotted billowing from the rooftop of the Mall by passersby of NH -32 at around 11 AM. But before the smoke spread and caused any damage, the staff of the establishment controlled it duly.

District fire officer Laxman Prasad said that it was a minor short circuit case in the building.  The staff of the Mall had averted the danger before his team reached the spot after getting the information. He said repairing work was reportedly being done when the smoke was spotted.

In Ozone Galleria Mall, besides multiplex movie theatre ( INOX),  Reliance, Cantabill, Samsung, Sonotel  Hotel and over a dozen shops also run in the market complex. The sources said when the fire information spread, a movie was being screened in Inox.

Since 19 people including two doctors couple have died in two major fire incidents in Dhanbad within a fortnight, the people of the district are frightened by the fire incident.

The eyewitness said when smoke was spotted bellowing out, hundreds of staff and customers were inside the Mall. As they heard of the fire, commotion prevailed in the mall and customers safely went out. For a moment, traffic on NH-32, which crosses in front of Ozone Galleria  Mall, was also jammed. However, the police cleared the road soon.
