Dhanbad: SNMMCH 2018 batch wins tourney opener in cricket tournament

Dhanbad, Jan 6: All-round performance of Law Kush Kumar helped the 2018 batch to crush the 2017 batch team by five wickets in the inaugural match of the Antraagni annual sports inter-MBBS tournament for the Yogender Singh trophy on Friday.

Law Kush Kumar took four wickets conceding merely 9 runs in 2.5 overs and contributed 8 valuable runs to the team while batting in the low-scoring match. He was declared ‘man of the match’.

The team of the 2017 batch  MBBS opted to bat first after winning the toss in 15 over match. The decision of batting first proved wrong as deadly spells of Law Kush and Husnain Raza. They bundled out them on 71 runs in 13.5 overs. Law Kush took 4 wickets and Husnain Raza took three wickets. Samrat Singh claimed two wickets and Saurabh Sinha took one.

Only two batters of the 2017 batch team Saurabh Singh (23) and Amit Aryan (10) reached double-figure score. Saurabh Singh hit one four and 3 sixes in his 12 balls inning, while Amit Aryan hit one four and one over the boundary in his 3 balls innings. Hridyanand and Rishabh Raj contributed 9 runs each.

While chasing 72 runs, 2018 MBBS batch team reached the target merely in 8 overs losing five wickets only. Rohit Kumar was the highest scorer 28 for the team 2017 batch Showing an aggressive attitude Rohit Kumar hit three fours and two sixes in his 8 balls innings. Saurabh Singhal hit 23 runs in 12 balls while Ashish Meena contributed 16 runs in 19 balls.

Hemant Choudhary of the 2017 batch took all five wickets of the 2018 batch conceding 20 runs in three overs.

Senior teacher cum sports in-charge of the medical college Dr CS Suman told that per day one match of the tournament would be played.
