Moreover, their contract would be extended after a review of their performance in the last two years. The professor and the associate professor would be paid a monthly salary of Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 2 lakh respectively.

The building of the super-speciality hospital has been completed and all diagnostic machines and operational instruments have arrived but due to the lack of doctors, nursing as well as Para medical staff, it is still non-functional.

Dr Ravi Bhushan, the nodal officer of SNMMCH super speciality hospital when contacted today said that as per government instruction, the hospital has to be made functional in two months on a priority basis. The preparation is almost completed.

“For time being our focus is to start the hospital as soon as possible. So professors and associate professors are being appointed on contract as per requirement. Later on, regular appointments would be made to run the hospital,” said Dr Ravi Bhushan.

A senior doctor of SNMMCH said diagnostic machines and medical instruments are lying defunct in the absence of expert technicians to handle them.

The super speciality hospital, an ambitious project of Rs 100 crores, is being set up in Dhanbad under the Pradhan mantra Swasthya Suraksha Yojna to provide treatment to patients of the region.
