Dhanbad, March 29: The death of another student in mysterious conditions within a week has rocked the guardians in the Dhanbad district.

The police recovered the body of a missing class IX girl from a pond in Barari Basti under Jorapokhar police station, around 15 km away from district headquarters, on Tuesday’s early morning.

The girl (14), a student of New Kids Garden Jealgora and a resident of  Barari Basti, has been missing since March 26 evening. The family members said she had gone for tuition in the evening but did not return home. The family members searched for her at the tuition where the teacher informed them that she had not come there.

The family members searched her at all places and finally gave a written information to the Jorapokhar police station about her missing the same night.

Today in the morning at around 6 am, Basti residents saw the body floating in the pond. They informed the girl’s family members and the Jorapokhar police station.

Jorapokhar police station officer in-charge Rajdev Sharma told media persons that prima facie, it looks like a murder case but the police will say anything only after proper investigation and getting the postmortem report. Local residents said an acid burn injury on the girl’s face was also spotted.

Within a week, this is the second time a school student has been found dead.  Last week, a student of DeNobili Sindri (class X) was found unconscious in a classroom and was declared dead at the Shahid Nirmal  Mahto Medical College Hospital, Dhanbad. The postmortem report did not specify the reason for his death.
