Dhanbad: Tata Steel Jharia division celebrates 118th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna JRD Tata

Dhanbad, July 29: Tata Steel Jharia division celebrated the 118th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna JRD Tata on Friday by organising several sports activities in the region.

The day began with Cross-Country Race for the under 16 category. Mayank Sekhar, chief of Jamadoba Group, Jharia Division and Santosh Mahato,  regional secretary, Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Union (RCMU)  jointly flagged off at GM’s office.

A total of 374 children (Girls -132 and  Boys -242) participated in the event. Later, Mayank and Santosh gave prizes to the top seven winners in both the boys’ and girls’ categories.

 

 

A special aids and appliances distribution programme was also organised for the leprosy patients at SPARSH Centre, Jamadoba. More than 30 leprosy patients were present during the programme. 

Dr Alok, chief medical officer, Tata Central Hospital, Jharia Division and other officers distributed crutches, wheelchairs and MCR (Micro Cellular Rubber) protective footwear to the leprosy patients. 

Archery competition was also organised for the under-16 category in which a total of 30 boys and girls participated. Similarly, a Football match was organised in which teams from MPL (Maithon power Limited), CIMFR, Digwadih campus and Tata Feeder Center participated. A total of 60 participants benefitted from this event.
