Dhanbad: Two arrested for stone pelting and firing in Bastakola, arms and bullets recovered

Dhanbad, July 9: Police arrested two youths Budhan Mandal and Javed Akhtar alias Rinku Khan in the case of stone pelting and firing between two groups over supremacy in manual truck loading at Bastakola coal dump in Jharia. The video of both the youths firing went viral on social media.

DSP (Law and Order) Arvind Kumar Binha gave this information in a press conference in his office on Sunday. The DSP told that on July 5, there was a clash between the United Front Labor Union and the Janata Shramik Sangh. There was a lot of stone pelting and firing from both sides. The youths who fired were identified and arrested. An illegal country-made pistol of 7.65 bore, a live bullet, an illegal country-made katta and a live bullet of 315 bore have been recovered from them.

The DSP told that both the arrested youths already had a criminal history. There are 16 cases registered against Budhan Mandal in various police stations and four against Rinku Khan. A police investigation is going on in the matter. The remaining accused will be arrested soon.

Notably, on July 5, more than a dozen rounds of firing took place between the two groups for supremacy in the Bastakola dump. The whole area was shaken by the firing. There was a lot of stone pelting, in which half a dozen people including women were injured. There was a dispute between the two groups regarding truck loading for the last several months.

Dhansar police station in-charge Rajdev Singh, Jogata police station in-charge Deepak Kumar Ojha and Kenduadih police station in-charge Surendra Singh were present at the press conference.
