Dhanbad, Sept 3: Two people were crushed to death in a truck-water tanker collision on  Kolkata–Delhi inter-state GT Road  (NH-2) near Kalidih More under the Govindpur police station area, around 12 km away from the district headquarters today in the morning.

Govindpur police station officer in charge Jitendra Kumar said that the incident occurred at around 9 am.  A water tanker was coming on Delhi lane while the coal coal-loaded truck was going on Kolkata lane. At an illegal divider cut on the road near Nirmala Hospital, both the vehicles collided.

In the incident, a fuel station staff identified as  Kishun Singh of  Bhitia Panchayat and another bike rider  Lal Mohan Kisku resident of Baghmara  Panchayat were crushed to death on the spot.

The traffic movement on the GT Road was also paralyzed for more than one hour as the coal loaded on the truck fell on the road. For the rescue of the trapped victim, local people blocked both lanes.

Govindpur Circle Officer (CO) Ramji Verma and  National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officers also reached the spot and launched the rescue operation. CO told media persons that compensation would be given to the family members of both the victims.
