Dhanbad, Sept 13: A youth identified as Dheeraj Rawani (25) was shot dead due to a personal dispute in the Upper Mandra area under the Barora police station, around 35 km away from the Dhanbad district headquarters, today in the afternoon.
Barora police station officer-in-charge Nandu Pal said that the incident occurred at around 2 pm. Amidst a heated argument, the accused identified as Tinku Thakur shot at him. The bullet hit Dheeraj Rawani in the chest and he succumbed on the spot.
Police have arrested Tinku Thakur and are interrogating him at the police station. Police also recovered an empty cartridge from the incident spot.
The reason for the dispute between Dheeraj Rawan and Tinku Tahakur is yet to be cleared. Both are said to have worked at the house of Uppar Mandra Panchayat chief. Tinku Thakur is said to be a tainted person. He had been arrested under the Arms Act earlier.
After the incident tension prevails in the area as the villagers refused to hand over the body to police and were demonstrating on the road. A large number of police personnel from Barora and Baghmara police stations are camping on the spot.
