Dhanbad:10-day Yoga training course for first-year MBBS students, Interns begins at SNMMCH

Dhanbad, June 10: As per the directive of the National Medical Commission (NMC), a 10-day Yoga training course ( June 12 to June 21) began for the first-year MBBS students at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad today in the morning.

Giving this information, SNMMCH principal Dr Jyoti Ranjan Prasad said that students are being taught yoga subject as per the protocol of the National Medical Commission (NMC)  that has been approved by the Union Ministry of Health and  Family Welfare, Government of India.

Last year, NMC made a 10-day Yoga training mandatory for first-year MBBS students. As per the NMC, protocol course would start on June 12 and terminate on the occasion of International Yoga Day June 21 every year.

Though training course is being done for first-year MBBS professionals, the college administration has also included the Interns of the hospital in it.

“ Yoga education and practice have been done in India in the ancient period as it helps in getting mental peace and physical development of people. It helps in increasing immunity in the body and protects from diseases,” said principal Dr Jyoti Ranjan Prasad while inaugurating the 10-day special classes.

The class began at 5.30 am early morning due to the rising temperature and continued till 7 am. Trainers of Dhanbad Patanjali Yoga  Centre  RN Yadav, P Kumar and Jaya Kumari are holding the classes for the MBBS students. Dr  Phani Bhushan ( coordinator of the training course)  said that on the first day different yoga exercises were taught to students. All 10-day new exercises would be taught to them.

Besides the principal, Dr Suman Anand Jha (physiotherapist),  Dr Ganesh Kumar, Dr Leena Singh, and Dr Priyadashi were present at the inaugural function.

“A total of 98 students (49 first-year MBBS professionals and 49 new interns) are attending the classes. They not only appeared in the class on the scheduled time of 5.30 am but also performed and learnt the exercises seriously and enjoyed”, said Dr Phani Bhushan.

The coordinator said all lessons of the training that are in the 160-page protocol of the NMC and the Union Health Ministry has approved are being taught.
