Dhanbad, Oct 27: Dr DK Singh, an eminent doctor of Dhanbad, was unanimously elected as the president of the Indian Association of Anesthesiologists, Bihar-Jharkhand chapter, at the 33rd convention of ISACON which concluded at Patna Maurya Hotel.

Dr Singh, who is presently the HoD of anaesthesia department at Central Hospital of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) Dhanbad, has the credit for organizing various medical education programmes in the region from time to time, for awareness of the people as the Secretary of Dhanbad chapter of Indian Association Anesthesiologists.

At the ISACON conference in Patna, a senior anesthesiologist from Jharkhand stated that no other doctor’s name was mentioned for the position of president, and Dr DK Singh was unanimously elected.

Dr Singh rose to prominence in 2014, when he successfully arranged the ISACON East Zone Conference in Dhanbad as the organizing secretary. The conference was co-organized by Bharat Coking Coal Limited and Patliputra Medical College Hospital (PMCH), now Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH).

“Elected as president of Bihar-Jharkhand chapter is an honour for me and my responsibility has increased many folds. My mission would be organizing maximum numbers of CME programmes, awareness of people, holding conferences for doctors and publication of research papers of anesthesiologists. My main challenge is to organize the national conference of ISACON in 2024 at Patna successfully,” said Dr Singh.

Besides being the HoD at the Central Hospital, Dr DK Singh is also the secretary of the Coal Mines Officers Association of India (CMOAI) and Technical Secretary to the director personnel of BCCL.

Dr Singh’s works for setting up the ICU of Care Centre at Central Hospital and SNMMCH Dhanbad during the Corona pandemic were highly appreciated by doctors and district administration. Doctors of Dhanbad have hailed the nomination of Dr Singh as president of Bihar-Jharkhand chapter and hoped that under his able leadership, anesthesiologists would get an opportunity to develop.
