Dhoni to lead Chennai Super Kings again in next IPL season

New Delhi, Sept 4: MS Dhoni has been named the Chennai Super Kings’ captain for the Indian Premier League 2023. On Sunday, CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan verified the news. It is hardly surprising given Dhoni’s influence in the CSK camp after assisting them in becoming one of the most successful clubs in the cash-rich league.

“There is no change in our stance. We never said that there will be a change,” Kasi said.

Notably, Chennai have won the titles four times in the past under Dhoni, and the last one being IPL 2021.

It is worth noting that Dhoni gave up the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja prior to the start of the IPL 2022 season. However, the team struggled under the new leadership, as CSK lost six of their eight matches.

Jadeja returned the captaincy reins to Dhoni, who assumed the duties for the balance of the season in the best interests of the team.

But, more crucially, Dhoni’s participation in the IPL 2023 has been confirmed by the franchise CEO. His availability for the upcoming IPL season is constantly in doubt at the end of the previous two IPL seasons.
