Dhanbad, Sept 28: The majority of MBBS doctors in Dhanbad seem reluctant towards the government’s offer of part-time service at designated clinics. The Health department had invited candidates for walk-in-interview for 12 posts of part-time doctors at Atal Clinics in Dhanbad. But only six MBBS doctors appeared at the civil surgeon’s office at the scheduled time.
Civil surgeon (CS) Dr Shyam Kishore Kant, District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO) Zaffarullah Sheikh, Sadar Community Health Centre (CHC) medical officers-in-charge Dr Sunil Kumar, Baghmara CHC medical officer-in-charge Dr Manish Kumar and Jharia CHC medical officer-in-charge Dr Pratibha were the members of the selection committee.
One of the members said that they will schedule another walk-in-interview for interested candidates after looking at how many of those six doctors join the post.
In absence of doctors, several Atal Clinics in Dhanbad have not yet started. National Health Mission (NHM) Director Umashankar Singh on September 20 had issued a notice about the vacancy of 12 posts for doctors at Atal Clinics at Bhuli community hall, Upgraded School Sindri Basti, Circle Office Jharia, Community Hall Katras, Ward Vikas Kendra Ambedkar Nagar, Community Hall Power House Loyabad station, Community Hall Dompara, Community Hall Chandmari Victory, Community Hall Chouthaikuli, Community Hall Pathardih, Community Hall Riverside Suryamandir and Community Hall Lakra in Dhanbad district.
One of the doctors who appeared at the interview said that a lower honorarium offer does not matter to him as he wants to serve people. But his age does not permit him to go to remote areas in the evening to attend Atal Clinic at his own cost.
As per the notification of NHM’s Managing Director, doctors would be paid an honorarium of Rs 700 for two hours of service in a day (8 am to 10 am) and two hours in the evening (6pm to 8 pm).
