Daltonganj, Jan 8: Palamu Civil surgeon Dr Anil Kumar, who himself has tested Covid positive, has appealed to people not to ignore or overlook cold, cough, sneezing and fever. If someone suffers through these symptoms then they should immediately go for a rapid antigen test, according to the CS.

“Our teams are out for Covid testing as a precaution is the first major step towards keeping in health,” he said.

A major share of the population in Palamu is sneezing or people’s noses are stuffy but they have learnt to live with it, said Gopal Sahu, a farmer cum confectioner.

He also made a passionate appeal for masks on faces saying that masks are like a social vaccine and everyone should use them all the time to be safe.

About the vaccination of the 15+ children, the civil surgeon said that it is going upwards since January 3 when Palamu could vaccinate 800 plus 15+ teens.

On January 4, more than 1,700 vaccinations of 15+ children were done.

“January 5, 6 and 7 showed 3,000 plus, 4,000 plus and 5,000 plus vaccinations respectively in Palamu,” added the civil surgeon.

District epidemiologist Dr Anup Singh informed today that the number of Covid positive persons has gone up to 206 till January 7.

“On an average, 60 plus positive Covid cases are surfacing a day out of the testing of over 2,000 samples which can be further reduced or contained if people start wearing masks,” Dr. Anup said.

“There is no need to panic but to be cautious and alert about oneself and about the surroundings,” he added.
