Ranchi, Nov 28: Jamtara MLA Irfan Ansari observed the Jharkhand police working like UP police and does not want this to happen.

Ansari’s wish came to the fore a day after a septuagenarian Muslim Nizamuddin died of cardiac arrest in Rodo village under the Torpo police station area of Khunti district when a police team allegedly broke open the door and misbehaved with women and children in order to arrest his son, an accused of selling prohibited meat, at midnight.

“Police in Jharkhand should not work on the Uttar Pradesh model. People expect the DGP to keep the police department under control. There is a lot of dissatisfaction among the people, especially the minority community due to this incident,” Ansari said releasing a press statement.

While expressing his wish, Ansari also demanded action against the police officer who had gone to arrest the accused at the midnight.

“The way Khunti police went to arrest Izhar Ansari by accusing him of selling banned meat and breaking open the door of the house at midnight is absolutely wrong. It cannot be tolerated at any cost. Honourable Chief Minister should take cognizance of this and a case of murder should be registered against the guilty policemen including Khunti SP,” Ansari demanded through a press statement.

According to Ansari, the accused should have been called at the police station during the day instead of raiding his house at night.
