Ranchi, July 11: The Ranchi police have solved the double murder case reported at the Chutia police station yesterday evening after two bodies with their throats slit were recovered from hotel Shivalik near the Ranchi railway station.
A police official informed this saying that it took 22 hours for the police to make the breakthrough in the matter.
The main accused of the murder case is Chandan Kumar. He drugged his prey and killed them by slitting their throats after they became unconscious. He then pretended to be terrified and informed the police to prove his innocence.
He is the same person whom one of the victims, Nageshwar Mehta, had chosen for marriage and had come from Ichak in Hazaribagh along with his son and another victim, Abhishek Mehta, to settle the marriage.
Asked what prompted Chandan to commit the murder, the police official said the former was upset taking a video footage in possession of Abhishek.
“Chandan had established physical relationship with Nageshwar’s daughter before marriage and somehow a video showing Chandan with Nagheshwar’s daughter in compromising position had reached the hand of Abhishek, who used to use the video to blackmail Chandan,” the police official said.
A press conference discussing the issue is expected late evening.
