Ranchi, Oct 7: In a thrilling and closely contested final match, Delhi Public School (DPS) Ranchi emerged as the champions of the Inter DPS Basketball Tournament (Boys) organised by Delhi Public School, Ruby Park, Kolkata. The tournament witnessed participation from DPS schools of various states which included Jharkhand, Bihar, Orissa, Bengal and Assam.
The final match, held on Saturday, witnessed fierce competition between DPS Ranchi and DPS Siliguri. Both teams displayed exemplary skill, teamwork and determination throughout the game. The match was a nail-biting affair, but at the end of the game, DPS Ranchi secured a narrow but well-deserved victory, with a final score of 42-40.
It is worth mentioning here that team DPS Ranchi defeated DPS Guwahati in the semifinals and DPS Bokaro in the quarter-finals. Also, in league matches team DPS Ranchi bagged the top position by defeating team DPS Ruby Park, Kolkata (West Bengal), DPS Digboi (Assam) and DPS New Town, Kolkata (West Bengal). Omkar Shreshth (Class IX) was bestowed with the ‘Best Player of the Tournament’ award.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ram Singh, Principal, DPS Ranchi said, “This proud victory in the Inter DPS Basketball Tournament is a testament to the talent and determination of the students at DPS Ranchi. It also serves as a reminder of the importance of sports in promoting physical fitness, teamwork and discipline among young individuals. The school and the winning team are now looking forward to future competitions, aiming to maintain their winning streak and make their institution proud”.
