Ranchi, Sept 2: Students of Delhi Public School, Ranchi emerged as ‘National Champions’ at the first edition of Fit India Quiz 2021. Representing Jharkhand State Shakeb Arsalan and Vaishnav Garodia of DPS Ranchi emerged as winners at National level.
The school has received the cash prize of Rs 25,00,000 while the participants bagged the cash prize of Rs 2,50,000.
Notably, the Fit India Movement was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a vision of encouraging students to adopt a physically active lifestyle. A Fit India Quiz was conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India to further propagate the message of Fit India Movement among the school children and strengthen its presence in schools.
The participants were felicitated by the Youth Affairs & Sports Minister of India, Anurag Thakur. In Final round, the students of DPS Ranchi defeated the teams of Tamil Nadu, Bihar and Arunachal Pradesh.
Shakeb Arsalan and Vaishnav Garodia were selected for this competition initially at the school level. Thereafter, they appeared for Preliminary round conducted by the National Testing Agency. After qualifying the Preliminary round, they were selected for the State Round where they once again emerged as State Champions and thus were selected for the National Round.
DPS Ranchi is one of the 36 teams that qualified for the Nationals from 28 States and eight Union Territories. More than 35,000 participants from 13,000 schools countrywide had participated in this event.
Congratulating Shakeb and Vaishnav on their performance, Principal Dr. Ram Singh said, “This achievement is the recognition of the collaborative efforts put in by them. They left no stone unturned to ensure that DPS Ranchi reaches its peak of success.”
He further added that this achievement was exemplary and they had inspired other students to dream big.
