Daltonganj, Dec 1: A session against Filaria disease began on Thursday at St Mariam School in Daltonganj for raising awareness about it among the students. Palamu DC Anjaneyulu Dodde was the chief guest of the ceremony of mass drug administration and ivermectin, diethylcarbamazine and albendazole.
The DC while interacting with the students informed them that filaria is caused by one type of mosquito and asked the students to take anti filarial drugs and also to prevail upon their parents to have it.
Chairman of the school Avinash Dev asked the students to keep clean and remain fit.
Palamu Civil surgeon Dr Vijay Kumar Singh, district TB officer Dr Anil Kumar Srivastav, district programme manager Deepak Kumar Gupta and others were in attendance during this ceremony.
The civil surgeon said that with the people’s and government’s support India eliminated polio and now it is everybody’s responsibility to eliminate filaria.
