Dhanbad, June 20: Dhanbad police have pressed in drone cameras in the city to step up surveillance and monitor the activities of anti-Agnipath Scheme agitators in the wake of the Bharat Bandh call today and track them down, in addition to deploying heavy police at sensitive locations, particularly near railway stations.
Two drones have been flying constantly since morning to get an aerial view of various places surrounding the Dhanbad railway station as part of restriction enforcement.
A senior police official deployed at the control room said that till 1.30 pm, no report of incident related to agitation was reported from any part of the district as well as railway stations.
“Complete peace prevails in the district. Business establishments are opened and vehicles ply on city roads like any other day. Even long route buses are plying,” said the officials.
On June 17, agitators sneaked into Dhanbad railway station and squatted on the track for more than one hour. Today, the district police along with RPF and GRP have put up barricades on entry points and have deployed heavy force at all spots.
Divisional railway has already cancelled 34 mail and express trains scheduled on the day and delay the departure of four trains in the wake of the Bharat bandh call.
Dhanbad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjiv Kumar said a massive arrangement has been made to cope with the bandh. Police are geared to take action if anyone tried to disturb the law and order situation.
Besides the city, additional 2000 police personnel under 19 magistrates have been deployed at different places in the district including Wasseypur, AraMore, Bhuli, Barwadda, Kendua, kerkendra, Katras, Jharia Govindpur, Nirsa Maithon. Besides it, four companies of reserve force are available to meet the situation in an emergency.
