Dhanbad Aug 27:  Now, drones would monitor vehicles’ movement on Dhanbad roads to bail out the coal city from the perennial traffic jam problem.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sandip Singh on Friday said that for streamlining the transport system in the district, a technical team has been set up. The team would work on basis of Real-Time Traffic and monitoring the transport movement of roads through drone cameras.

“A large number of buses and goods carrier vehicles come from Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bokaro and other places in the district. For streamlining these passenger buses and goods transport, it has been decided to fix new route for them,” said the DC after a high-level review meeting with officers on Friday.

He directed the concerned officials to hold a meeting with the associations of inter- district and inter-state buses as well as goods transport and inform them about the routes fixed by the district administration.

Traffic jam on National Highway -32 at Bank More, at Shramik Chowk Gaya over bridge, Steel Gate Saraidhela and other places in the city has been a perennial problem of Dhanbad. District Chamber of Commerce Association (DCCA), Jharkhand Industries and Trade Association (JITA), and other associations have complained the chief minister for a permanent solution of traffic congestion.

The DC has ordered the immediate removal of unauthorized parking,  vending zones, illegal shops at Bank More and Steel Gate Saraidhela area where traffic jam is becoming serious day by day. He has ordered mapping of road and displaying ‘No Parking Zone’ signboard.

Sandip Singh has also directed officials to identify and fixed spots at different places in the city for auto ( three-wheeler tempo) stand. He has also asked to get passenger sheds cleared that have been encroached by people.

Autorickshaws are considered to be the lifeline of traffic movement for common people in Dhanbad. As per the district transport official record, around 16,000 autos ply in the district.
