Dhanbad, Dec 8: A three-day state under-19 boys and girls badminton championship/selection trial for the national championship will start in Dumka indoor stadium tomorrow.
The Dumka District Badminton Association (DDBA) secretary Deepak Kumar Jha today said that DIG Dumka range Sudarshan Mandal will inaugurate the championship tomorrow at 10 AM while in the closing ceremony on December 11, the agriculture minister of state Badal Patralekh would be the chief guest.
Moreover, the DDBA secretary said more than 60 boys and girls players from different districts of the state especially top-ranked players of Ranchi, Jamshedpur, and Dhanbad have already arrived to participate.
“Dumka has already hosted four tournaments this year (in 2022) including the East Zone Open badminton Championship, Jharkhand State Senior Badminton Championship and two commissioner levels so far. State under- 19 championship is 5th of the year,” said Jha.
The national grade badminton umpires of Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, and Dumka under chief umpire Avinash Kumar Tiwari will conduct the matches in the championship.
“First-time woman badminton umpire Kamaljit Kaur of Jamshedpur (state panel umpire) would be seen in action in the Dumka championship.
To organise the championship successfully, the district association has made an organising committee. Umashankar Choubey (president), Vijay Kumar, Dr Tushar Jyoti (vice-president), Deepak Kumar Jha (secretary), Radhey Barotiya (treasurer), Md Akbar, Amit Charan Anthony and Madhusudan are members of the organising committee.
